Our Son, Brecken, was born at 36 weeks via planned C-Section due to a medical condition that Heather experienced during pregnancy. Within a short time after he was born he started having signs and symptoms of respiratory distress and was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. Brecken stayed at Children's Hospital from April 11th 2014- April 27th 2014. The first five days he resided in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and then was transferred down to the SCU (Special Care Unit which is a level 2 nursery) for the remainder of his stay. He was treated for pneumonia and prematurity of the lungs. During his time in the hospital he used IV antibiotics, specialized oxygen and also needed to learn how to eat, trying to master the suck-swallow-breath combination. 

Since his discharge, almost one year ago, we have been back to Children's Hospital & Clinic of Minneapolis multiple times for follow up appointments and procedures. Each time we walk back into the building it brings up a variety of emotions, but ultimately we are put at ease knowing Brecken is receiving the very best care we could ever want for him and he could ever need. Participating in this event is just one way that we can say thank you and show our appreciation to the wonderful staff at Children's. We are truly lucky to have such an amazing place so close to home!
