Jordynn's Journey

Jordynn's Story

Jordynn was born April 7th, 2014 at Hudson Hospital in Hudson, Wisconsin. After a difficult delievery we finally got to meet our baby girl, almost instantly we could tell there was something that wasn't quite right. After Dr. Campbell checked her over, sent her for x-rays, and spent most of the night with us she decided to send baby Jo to the ENT, Dr. Malone, at Children's Hospital in St. Paul. Dr. Malone sent Jo down to have a swallow study done and that is when we found out that she was aspirating all of her food, filling her lungs up with liquid. Jo got admitted right away and begun her journey at Children's Hospital at 1 week of age. We spent around a month and a half at children's trying to figure out why this was happening and to hopefully give her throat some time to heal after her rough delivery, however, it did not help. She failed every swallow study. They decided to put a g-tube in and give her all her food through her tube. During surgery Dr. Malone was able to find the cause of her aspiration, she had a small hole in her throat. We were able to pack up and go home, with lots of medical equipment, after she got her tube and was fully recovered. We loved having her home, however, we found ourselves in the Emergency room a few months later. Jo is now diagnosed with reactive airway, or asthma. We have had 3 hosptial stays and many emergeny room visits since her intial discharge from the NICU. The Children's team has helped us through all of our difficult times and we are very confident with the care baby Jo has recieved from their staff!
