When I was 32 weeks pregnant with Liam, my doctor (McKenzie) from Hastings, Minnesota, noticed that I had stopped growing and my measurements were at a stand still. Immediately I was scheduled for weekly ultrasounds. At my appointment on the 21st of February I went in for the ultrasound (not knowing it would be my last) and they discovered that my placenta had died and Liam was no longer getting vital nutrients from me. Dr. McKenzie then made the decision to send me up to United/Children's in the cities. The team up there decided it was in Liam's best interest that an emergency c-section be preformed in order to ensure a quick and healthy delivery. Liam was born at 4 pounds and the doctors worked around the clock to make sure that he was as healthy as can be. Liam was experiencing difficulties eating and the amazing staff did everything that they could to make sure that this was resolved so that we could go home and start our journey together. We were lucky enough to only stay at Children's for three days but I am positive that our short stay was only because we had the best team available taking care of Liam. They did a fantastic job and I am so thankful that we went to Children's. They gave us so much, now it's our turn to show our support!
