TY and PeyTON (TyTons) were born on January 14th, 2015.  It was unexpected about 14 weeks ahead of schedule but we were blessed with two miracles.  Peyton Debra Schreier was born at 12:54 am, weighing in at 1.5 lbs and 12 inches in long.  Ty Monty Schreier followed at 1:14 am, weighing in at 1.7 lbs and 12 inches long.  We knew it would be a long uphill battle but Amber and I were ready.  We had our first challenge the next night.  Ty experienced blood pressure complications and did not make it through the night.  It was a very long night but many people we have never met from Children’s were there help us get through this.  Ty will continue to look after his big sister and family.  A week later came Chapter 2 of our journey. Peyton needed a small heart surgery to fix a PDA that never closed.  We met with the cardiologist and knew we were in good hands.  She was in surgery for about an hour and everything went great.  A few days after surgery her stats all went down very quickly.  The next couple of weeks would be about praying for poop and having her grow.  Peyton started growing very quickly and her digestive system was working great.  After a few weeks of growth she was taken off her ventilator and put on a CPAP.  We had a few ups and downs with the CPAP but the nurses and Doctors got it dialed in and she was on her CPAP for a few more weeks.  At 30 weeks gestation they took her off the CPAP and put her on a cannula.  She is now double in size and her lungs are doing great.  We still have a long road ahead but so far the last 7 weeks have taught us a lot.  The nurses and doctors at Children’s are some of the best around, without so many of them it would have been very hard for Amber and I to get through this.
