Frankie, FKA "Benny", came up from North Carolina through a transport partner (Partners! Canines). He came up with his litter and was immediately put into foster care. Soon after, his foster mother noticed that he was unwell and brought him in only to find out he was infected with the deadly parvovirus.
"Benny" was still under the watchful eye of the medical staff while his brothers and sisters became available for adoption. (Coincidentally, we were away that weekend as well. Meant to be?)
I was strongly motivated to adopt and my husband, Albie, was willing but... "selective". I'd sent him photos from PAC's instagram time and time again to gauge his interest only to be met with rejection...until Benny's post was uploaded. This was the first time that he responded with something other than some version of "no".
I work from home so I drove over as soon as I could and I was the first person to take Benny out for a walk. He was sweet and playful in a way that you'd never would have known he was seriously ill only days before. I told Albie that he needed to come as soon as he could, we needed this puppy. As soon as he arrived, we were put into a meeting room where Benny could run around. Immediately, he jumped on Albie's lap and fell asleep. We adopted him that afternoon and gave him the name Frankie.
Nowadays, Albie and I both work from home with Frankie as our office manager and security. We have offices on two different levels of our house so he will check in on us throughout the day and let us know when our packages are arriving. Frankie is the perfect fit for our family and it's hard to believe how he ended up here. It definitely would not have been possible without the transport programs and diligent foster and medical care available to pets that is available through PAC and we're eternally grateful.
