My journey at PAC started in 2015. I became a volunteer in March of 2015, having free time after a close family member, whom I was helping take care of, passed away in September of 2014. I wanted something meaningful to fill in some time. I have always loved animals and always saw the sign for the "SPCA" sitting at the corner of Providence Ave. and Sandy Bank Road. I was working in the laundry room. I started at one day a week, went to two days after a few months, and eventually was volunteering 3 days a week. It was in the summer of 2015 that I adopted my beloved Luna, who is now 13 years old. We have been a family for a little over 9 years.
Well I can't survive on looks alone so I became a paid employee of the now Providence Animal Center. I was assigned to the kennels helping with the dogs. To say I loved working with the dogs is a understatement. Well my knees got the best of me (yeah bad knees run in my family) so I moved from the kennels to HR/FInance. Now I am full time in the Finance Department so I see how much it costs to take care of the animals in our care.
Bark in the Park is one of our big fundraisers. While those that know me know I hate asking for money this is for a very good cause. The money that PAC receives goes towards helping the dogs and cats in our care. It doesn't end there. We also offer low cost vet care (spays, neuters, wellness clinic visits) to the community. Your pet doesn't have to be one that came from PAC.
Therefore, please consider donating to my page for Bark in the Park. My goal is $300 but I'd be pleased if more than that was raised. No amount is too small. If all my friends gave even $1 I would reach my goal. Thanks again from me, Luna, and all the animals who have passed through or will be passing through PAC.
