Why are we fundraising and why are Siela's and Peanut's picture showing instead of us? Siela and Peanut are here because they, like thousands of other rescue dogs, were saved from a kill shelter or terrible living conditions by organizations like Henrico Humane Society. Siela was being "thrown away" by a hunter who couldn't train her to hunt rabbits the way he wanted (she kept chasing squirrels instead). And Peanut was rescued from an over-whelmed backyard breeder who had so many dogs that she was forced to live in a crate for over a year, and was only let out occasionally into a muddy field to do her business.
They are the reason Steve and I both volunteer with Henrico Humane Society (HHS) and are fundraising now to help save as many dogs as possible - just as Siela and Peanut were nearly 10 years ago. Toward this end, we hope to raise at least $300 by September 30th and need your help. Please make a donation to our team - any amount will make a huge difference, and will truly be appreciated.
If you live in the Richmond area, also consider registering to walk at Bark in the Park on September 30th. Bring your dog(s) and your family, and have a great time knowing that you are doing something not only fun, but important. You'll see us there - we'll be at the dog adoption stand with some of HHS's great foster dogs that are ready NOW for good, loving homes.
