Why I Walk: For Slugger, Sandy, and Every Pet Waiting for a Home

I participate in Bark on the Beach because of two incredible dogs who changed my life: Slugger and Sandy.

Ten-year-old Slugger came into our lives eight years ago when we adopted him in Kansas City. He’s been our loyal companion ever since.  Two years ago, Sandy joined our family through ARRI. She brought a burst of energy and joy, and watching her grow into her goofy, loving self has been a gift.

Both of them remind me every day why adoption matters. They were once homeless pets, waiting for someone to see their potential and give them a second chance. Bark on the Beach is my way to honor their stories and help more animals find the love they deserve.

Every dollar raised helps ARRI continue its lifesaving work. Whether it’s food, shelter, medical care, or the chance to be part of a family, your support makes a real difference.

This year, I’m proud to participate in the 14th annual Bark on the Beach at Narragansett Town Beach to help give homeless animals a second chance. This beloved event raises critical funds for Animal Rescue Rhode Island (ARRI), which cares for over 500 pets each year, and I need your help!
