War Eagle! My name is Marion Colvin, and I am the Director of Academic Outreach for the Beat Bama Food Drive this year! Our organization raises money and food to support the Food Bank of East Alabama while in competition with the University of Alabama! If any of you know me personally you know how much I love to beat bama in any way possible! With this organization I have the opportunity to do just that along with helping the 66,000 people who depend on the Food Bank of East Alabama!
As a member of committee least year, I was able to see first hand how much our hard work and effort helped those in need. Last year we raised a total of 211, 625 lbs of food!!!!! The food bank is awesome in that they can turn a $1 donation into 7 meals! For our competition, $1 equals 2.2 lbs of food!
Did you know that 1 in 5 people in Lee County alone are food insecure? Imagine if you did not know where your next meal would come from; I know I couldn't. Some of my best memories growing up have been centered around food. Whether it was family meals, family reunions, or holidays, food was the center of those events. Help me give people the opportunity to make those memories by donating to my page! My goal for the drive is $250, but I know I can exceed that with your help!
