Of the 48.8 million Americans who suffer from food insecurity, over 900,000 of those individuals live in Alabama. I have been extremely lucky to never have gone through my life hungry, wondering where my next meal would come from. Some of the effected individuals go to the same school as I, have the same amount of homework, tests, papers, social anxiety, etc. But on top of all that they don't know when they will eat next. This idea seems very unfair to me and surely there is a way to change it. With great blessings come great responsibility, and the Beat Bama Food Drive is an awesome way for Auburn students and the surrounding community to facilitate this responsibility to help those in need. I pledged to raise at least $100 dollars, all profits going to the East Alabama Food Bank, an organization dedicated to helping those individuals overcome the battle of food insecurity. Auburns team is in competition with Beat Auburn Beat Hunger, our "rival" at University of Alabama to see who can raise the most money/food for our respective food banks. A little can go a very long way, just $1 is equal to up to 7 meals. All donations are appreciated and will help beat both Alabama and food insecurity.
