In the last few years, one of our boys has had several 'opportunities' requiring healthcare expertise.  Having Child Life involved in these moments made ALL the difference.  He got to practice what the numbing device would feel like and sound like before the IV.  He got to see the tubes that would go in his body.  He got to watch a movie on an Pad to distract him from feeling nervous.  When he recalls these procedures, he doesn't recount the story with fear.  I know the work the Child Life Team does makes experiences special for families in our community going through difficult times.  No one wants to see their child sick or suffering, but the support from this team gives such comfort!
