Hey everyone! As you may already know, I have had the privilege to serve as one of the Directors of Logistics for Beat Bama Food Drive in 2017. I joined BBFD because of my desire to help the 18.8 percent of Alabama population that are "food insecure." That’s approximately 911,440 people! Food insecure means that an individual is not assured of being able to obtain a balanced, adequate diet from non-emergency channels. Through service projects in downtown Birmingham with my church, I met so many people that faced this problem of food insecurity daily. As a teenager that was so fortunate, it broke my heart to see this issue first hand in the city that I called home, and it created a place in my heart for these people.
