Two of our three vans are in desperate need of replacement. With a new van, we can transport staff, youth, and equipment more efficiently and safely. Read more here.
Celebrate Our Valuable Paid Internship Programs for East Saint Paul Youth
Join us on September 29 to grow Urban Roots! Our staff and interns will share their experiences and successes in our three programs: Market Garden, Conservation, and Cook Fresh.
We’ll honor the work of honey bees and all native pollinators, as we see them as a link between our programs. Conservation helps create and support the native habitat that many pollinators call home. Market Garden benefits from the pollinators doing their work, giving us many of our favorite crops. Cook Fresh prepares wonderful meals from those crops.

About Urban Roots
Urban Roots provides paid internships to youth on the East Side of Saint Paul. Youth interns develop leadership, entrepreneurial, and life skills through our Market Garden, Conservation, and Cook Fresh Programs. Each year, up to 80 youth interns, ages 14-24, participate in our progressive, tiered programming, connecting to one another and to the world around them.
Market Garden youth interns plant, maintain, and harvest small-scale crop production within our urban gardens.
Cook Fresh youth interns learn about the food we grow seasonally and how to prepare it fresh from the garden.
Conservation youth interns restore green spaces and work to connect the community with their natural resources.

Live Music by V4loops
V4Loops combines traditional native instruments with modern beats and progressive music. Vladimir Garrido from Chile and Miguel Gonzales from Mexico use their looping devices and many acoustic/electric instruments to create a relaxing atmosphere, inviting the community to connect with the music and enjoy the present moment.
