I started working for Hilltop Artists in May of 2018. New to the glass world and art education but an advocate for both. Over my time here I have gotten to know the incredible staff and students and believe wholeheartedly in the mission of Hilltop Artists. 

Our instructors are role models for our students. There is a diverse group of students that come through our 6 programs at Hilltop Artists, and our teachers work to create a safe environment where the students feel they can express themselves.

Being in the program students learn about a lot about grit. There was one time when an instructor and a student were at the Museum of Glass for a Third Thursday event. It was 8 pm and this one student had been working on a piece for the last 30 minutes. The piece was ready to be taken off the pipe and put in the annealer to cool down.

When it was taken off the pipe the piece cracked and had to be thrown away. Without missing a beat even though it was late and Third Thursday was over, the instructor and student stayed to make the piece again. To learn how to continue after failing over and over again in a safe and supportive environment is something Hilltop Artists has provided for over 26 years.
