Seeking Heroes for Tacoma Hilltop Artist
Why your support is important
My first time in the HotShop at Jason Lee Middle school was magic... watching the Friday production team create dazzling pumpkins was a rush. The intricately choreographed "dance" that it takes to create one tiny pumpkin with an expertly swirled stem took at least six students to create and transport safely to the annealer. Each student knew where to be and could anticipate the next movements necessary to transform the molten ball into pumpkin, and they did it with so few words or gestures.
The work flowed seamlessly and I was transfixed for more than an hour. The skills students learn in the HotShop, in addition to the craft of glassblowing, are the essential one of: team work, collaboration, deligation, and patience. It is amazing!!
