Porter-Leath's Books from Birth program is a vital early literacy resource in our community. As an affiliate of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, it has grown to serve over 36,000 children ages five years old or younger in Shelby County. Each month children recieve an age-appropriate book to read with their families, which can help them learn new words and build language skills.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Porter-Leath's Books from Birth, the first $20,000 of donations from new donors or increased support from existing friends will be matched by an anonymous donor!

Our costs recently increased suddenly by 18% due to a postage increase, resulting in an additional $88,000 needed this year to keep books in the hands of our youngest readers. Despite the increase, you can ensure a child receives all twelve books this year for only $25, or fund a child’s full five years of books with a gift of $125.
