My sister Caroline lights up every room she walks into – usually with bright colors, sunglasses, and a Diet Dr. Pepper. Those of you who know me well know that her future and care are vitally important to me, and indeed have kept me up at night since I was a teenager. For years we have researched, planned, and discussed what would best fit her needs into adulthood and beyond. In the end, it became clear that Brookwood in Georgetown (BiG) was the right place for her. Earlier this year, we made the huge decision for her to attend BiG -- and she and my parents made the (BiG!) move down to central Texas.

BiG is a small non-profit vocational community where adults with disabilities engage in meaningful work together – we all have complementary strengths and weaknesses and together accomplish great things. They produce and sell a multitude of items like ceramics, cards, jewelry and more. If you know Caroline, you know that two of her great loves are cooking and baking. Her favorite things to work on are the pies and the dog treats. (Fun fact, the dog treats are sold in Tomlinson's Feed stores throughout the Austin area!)

BiG has two fundraisers per year; this is one of them. As a non-profit, fundraising is vital to support the program. What matters most to me isn't the amount – it's knowing you showed up for Caroline. We have an ambitious goal, but what would make me happiest is seeing familiar names on her donor list, knowing that you, the people in our life, rallied for her.
