Last year, and the year before that, I rode in the Bikes Not Bombs Bike-a-Thon. This year, the same thing is happening. Well, sort of. The past two years, I rode 10 miles. But that was getting too easy. So this year, if everything goes to plan, I’m going to ride 35 miles!
If you don’t know what Bikes Not Bombs is, it’s a non-profit organization that helps send bikes around the world where they are needed. Since they started in 1984, they have shipped over 80,000 bikes to developing countries. I decided to participate in the Bike-a-Thon because I like biking and I like the mission of Bikes Not Bombs.
One of the ways Bikes Not Bombs raises money is through the Bike-a-Thon, which is why I sent this letter to you. Last year, thanks to generous donations, we raised over 1,000 dollars for the Bike-a-Thon. I would love to get close to, if not pass, that amount of money this year.
