Welcome to My Bash!
Seattle Shakespeare is a professional, all-classical, year-round theatre company that reaches across barriers of income, geography, and education to bring classical theatre to life for everyone in Washington State. Whether you're in a seat at the Center Theatre or on the grass at Luther Burbank Park or in a school auditorium in Wenatchee, you are part of Seattle Shakespeare.

Hello friends!
Why Shakespeare?!? I was lucky to grow up in a family that revered the arts. My father would put on classical music and ask me, “What do you see when you hear this? How does it make you feel?” My mother, who we called “the mad whistler,” would whistle opera tunes at a stunningly loud volume. I spent a lot of time dancing around the house. One of my brothers started playing bass in high school and became a professional musician. And we all loved theatre. While I didn’t see a lot of Shakespeare as a kid, I made up for it in college in the form of plays, movies, and dances. I couldn’t believe the magic of the language and how the stories transcended time, telling us about ourselves and the lives of others. I didn't miss a student Shakespeare play, and finally, in my senior year, played Titania in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream." While I'm sure my acting left much to be desired, I loved every minute! After college I choreographed productions for a Shakespeare company in Rhode Island and when I moved to Seattle 30 years ago I soon subscribed to Seattle Shakespeare. It’s been almost two decades of glorious productions. I've seen plays new to me and ones I've seen multiple times, finding new meaning in them with each viewing. Shakespeare is personal, political, tragic, historical, contemporary, funny…and always relevant.
Bill's Bash is Seattle Shakespeare Company's annual fundraiser, all online for the second year. This year our artistic director George Mount and the production team have put together a wonderful schedule of events from May 7 – 16, ranging from interviews with Seattle Shakespeare artists, trivia, an Artist Marketplace, and a different kind of raffle. The final live auction on May 15 will include performance videos. Celebrate theatre and help me welcome new audiences, new students, new artists into this work by being a part of the event. Enjoy yourself, make a gift if you are so moved, and spread the word! Any amount, large or small, makes a difference. You'll help keep these classic works alive in schools and communities, on stage and online, for today and for the future!
If you think of others who might be interested in making a donation, or who would simply like to explore Bill’s Bash events to learn more about Seattle Shakespeare Co, please forward this post to them or share it on social media. And join us for virtual productions until we can be back in the theatre again.
Thank you so much!
