In January of 2004 at the age of three, I was diagnosed with stage three Wilms' Tumor. The tumor they found on my right kidney was described to be as big as a grapefruit. I underwent 28 rounds of chemotherapy and 7 days of radiation therapy until the tumor had shrunk enough to be removed completely. I am now 22, 18 years cancer-free, and a college graduate about to embark on my journey to become a Child Life Specialist. Even though I was incredibly young when cancer entered my life, the way it has impacted my family and I has never left my life. I have met some of my closest friends because of my diagnosis and have had the opportunity to connect with kids just like me who can understand what the later-life effects of cancer treatments are like. Cancer has taught me how truly unpredictable life can be, but it has also instilled in me that every moment is worth living to the fullest. 

Because of Angels Among Us, my mom was able to be with me throughout all my treatments and my dad got to take off some work to be there as well without having to be completely overwhelmed about the financial responsibilities they had as such young parents. AAU took a big weight off of my parents shoulder's and I know to this day they're so incredibly grateful that this help allowed them both to be present with one less stressor during my diagnosis.
