As written by Caiden's parents - 

In September of 2021 five year old Caiden was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia.  Caiden’s intensive treatment plan began right away and continued for almost 2.5 years.  Living in Lincoln we made the trip to Children’s Hospital sometimes 5 days a week for the first year of treatment.  Hospital admissions and long days of 8 hours or more at the infusion center became Caiden’s normal routine.  Caiden continued to keep a positive attitude and smile on his face while doing hard and scary things.  In January of 2024 Caiden took his last dose of Chemotherapy.  Now Caiden only goes to Childrens Hospital once a month for lab work to hopefully show continued remission and to monitor the still challenging after effects of cancer treatment.

AAU has been such a tremendous support for our family!  Helping to pay our bills so that our family could focus on Caiden’s needs rather than how we would manage to financially navigate such a difficult situation.  Cancer can feel so isolating and overwhelming but because of AAU our family knew we always had someone there to support Caiden and our family.  We are forever grateful to AAU!
