September 5th, 2021 was the day that our world seemed to come to a complete stop. We received a phone call that our daughter, Aubrey, had cancer. We immediately had to pack a bag and head to Children's Hospital in Omaha where the following days were filled with scans, a port placement, so many questions, and her first chemo.
Nothing can prepare you for the financial burden that comes with having a child diagnosed with cancer....the medical bills, gas to get to appointments, a parent missing work to be with their child. Angels Among Us was there for us from the very beginning. Their assistance helped lift a weight off of our shoulders and allowed us to focus on Aubrey. We will forever be thankful for them.
Aubrey finished treatment on December 28th, 2023. Since then, Aubrey has focused on being a kid. She loves volleyball, basketball, swimming, tumbling, playing outside, and crafts. We are embracing this new normal after treatment!
