When I was matched with my Big Sister Deborah in 1994, I was 8 years old.  A BBBS staff person came to my home in Euclid to interview my brother as a potential new Little Brother.  I wasn't even technically old enough, but I took the opportunity to make my demands - I wanted someone that could take me ice skating and that would actually pay attention to me!  The kindness of that staff person, who took the time to listen to me and let me enroll in the program changed my life forever.

During our 10 years as an official BBBS match, we shared so many adventures and milestones.  From horseback riding (still my favorite thing to do) to art projects and board games, we did all kinds of activities.  Deborah attended all of my band concerts and open houses, helped me apply for college scholarships, and even took me to my freshman orientation at Case Western Reserve University.

When we met, I had no idea what my life experiences would be, or who I could become - but I knew I had Deborah in my corner.  The friendship we started over 25 years ago is even stronger today - we are each others' closest confidants and biggest cheerleaders.

Today, I am the President & CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cleveland.  Being a part of this organization has changed my life, and I am grateful every day for the opportunity to lead our agency as we continue to create life-changing friendships for children across Cuyahoga County.

• When we raise $100, it will sponsor one "Match Introduction," when a child meets their Big for the first time.
• When we raise $250, it will sponsor a month of "Match Support," where BBBS connects with the Big, Little, and their parent to help develop their friendship.
• When we raise $500, it will sponsor the enrollment of a new Big Brother or Big Sister, and help us take a child off the waiting list.
• And for every $1,500 we raise, we sponsor a full year of mentoring for a BBBS kid.
