Islamic Relief began working in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1992 to provide vital emergency assistance to the people during the Bosnian War. Islamic Relief was actually one of the first international, nongovernmental organizations to start delivering aid.

Supporting Widows and Orphans in Bosnia

We Need YOUR Help

We’ve had to think big in order to offer even the prospect of a future to those suffering in poverty. This is why the interest-free loans, business training, and educational opportunities implemented in Bosnia through your support have made such a difference in these widows’ lives.

Since this project began in 2019, 120 widows and orphans have been able to gain their footing with jobs that help them support their families. Progress has been made thanks to you, but help is still urgently needed. With winter in full force, it’s critical that we act quickly as families with children face below-freezing temperatures. Your donation can help heat homes and provide warm clothing to those who are without.

Islamic Relief’s Dedication to Bosnia-Herzegovina

Bosnia-Herzegovina was the first country Islamic Relief USA responded to, providing vital emergency assistance in the form of food, water, and clothing to survivors of the war. In the war’s aftermath, Islamic Relief also rebuilt homes, schools, and places of worship destroyed during the war. In recent years, IRUSA has offered support to flood survivors, orphans, and the elderly.

Here’s just a sampling of recent efforts for families in need across Bosnia

  • Supporting orphans in need and their families
  • Delivering urgent food aid to those living in hunger
  • Implementing vocational programming to help build sustainable livelihoods

As much as we’ve been able to accomplish, there is still so much more to do. If we work together—with YOU—we can make the vision of a better Bosnia a reality for so many more of our sisters and brothers in need.
