I am so pumped to be back running the Boston Marathon after a very long, almost quarter of a century hiatus, and it it touches my heart to be running to benefit the Flutie Foundation!!!
About a year ago, after several years of struggling with my weight, my drinking, and my overall physical and mental wellness, I made the decision to really start taking my health seriously. It has been life altering, and probably the best decision that I have ever made. Running is a big part of it, as those many hours spent on the road has always been a place where I can challenge myself, clear my head, and of course shed those unwanted pounds. Over the past year I will have completed 27 half marathons, and 2 full marathons (Philadelphia '23 & Miami '24), and Boston is next on my list, and by far the most meaningful!!!!
I've run Boston twice, '00 & '02, which feels like more than a lifetime ago!!! It means so much to me, not only for the opportunity to run in this great race again, but to be running for The Flutie Foundation, who empowers families and individuals affected by Autism. I am close with, and grew up with families who have faced the challenges of Autism, have neighbors with autistic children, and see the daily struggles. Many of the Flutie Foundation running team members are autistic as well, and besides from several of them being tremendous athletes that I can only dream of keeping up with, they are extremely inspiring to me. Anything that I can do to help by raising money to make life easier for them and their families is very fulfilling to me.
I've set a goal of $12,000.
