We feel extremely lucky to have the opportunity to run the Boston Marathon TOGETHER and be part of the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation. Our personal connection to the Foundation began in 2019 when Jessica ran the Boston Marathon along with her two cousins – one being, Danielle who ran for the Foundation. Since then Danielle and Scott have been very involved in the Foundation and we have learned so much from both of them and their experiences.
We are running as THE BEST mother/daughter duo participating in the 128th Boston Marathon. Jess and I have teamed up numerous times over the years and have competed in races including Reach the Beach events, 5Ks, 10Ks, Tri for a Cure and even a half marathon (which Jess literally had to pull Holly along after mile 11). But now it is time to run together again (Jessica will be working harder as she will be pulling Holly over the finish line in Boston) and to help the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation.
For the past 14 years we have also coached the Manchester New Hampshire Special Olympic Ski team. We have learned so much while working with families and athletes on our team, many of whom have been affected by an autism diagnosis. Through our connections with the athletes and their families we see how beneficial resources like the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation can be and want to help. As a Multilingual public school teacher, Jessica works with elementary students and families who have been affected by an Autism diagnosis. She helps families get connected to resources to support their needs, and she has seen first hand what the right connections can do for students and families. She is honored to be a part of a team that does just that.
We have shared so many adventures, this one might be one of the more challenging, but we know we will have a lot of ups and downs, laughs and tears, but in the end will cross the line together!
