As you already know, on April 15th, I will be running the 128th Boston Marathon as a member of Dougie’s Team which benefits the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism!
I'm excited to be back for my 7th Boston Marathon. Over my previous 6 years running the Boston Marathon for charitable organizations, others have reached out to learn about my efforts, and running for a charity themselves. The most common question I have been asked is for a suggestion of what charitable organization they should benefit. I've always answered, “Find a charity that touches your heart.”
The Doug Flutie Jr Foundation for Autism is that for me.
My brother, Andrew, is living his fullest life with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) via the help of assistance programs. He lives in an apartment by himself and has maintained a job at a local department store for many years. Additionally, he is involved in social programs and participates in various group outings, bowls regularly, and has participated in the Special Olympics.
I knew years ago that I wanted to run to benefit those like my brother Andrew, and this year I will.
While I will run the 26.2 miles of the marathon, I'm not helping anyone. I'm simply the laborer, and the conduit of your generosity. I am asking for your support as I have set a lofty fundraising goal of $25,000!
Please help my effort with a run to give back, to make a difference, to inspire, and to leave this place a little better than we found it.
Marathon training is well under way. To help you follow my training progress, I share a weekly update on social media platforms Instagram (@mahkinbird) and Facebook.
Grants from Donor Advised Funds are gladly accepted. Your gift is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible charitable donation and maybe also eligible for Corporate Matching. Please ask me for assistance in submitting DAF Grants or Corporate Matching requests.
Thank you in advance!
Regards,
Mark Lamson
