A Better, Safer, Cleaner Future Via Bicycles
Help Me Help Boston Cyclists Union
If you know me, you know I love bicyles. Road bikes, mountain bikes, gravel bikes, cargo bikes, e-bikes, and even fixies; if its got two wheels, I'm interested!
Boston is facing a number of crises. Housing is unaffordable and unattainable for a growning number of residents and their families. Our public transit is under-funded and falling apart. Traffic is some of the worst in the country. We need to do better.
A huge contributor to the increased price of housing is just how much space cars take. Every development is hampered calls for parking spaces. Boston simply has no room for everyone to drive to work. Our air is measurably worse near major throughfares. Cars aren't working for us. In fact, 43.8% of households in Boston do not even own a car!
Boston cannot afford to continue to leave its citizens behind. Boston's residents deserve public transit and alternative forms of transportation that works for them. One of the best, fastest, and healthiest ways of getting around the city is by bicycle. With a growing network of bicycle trails and protected lanes, more and more people each day get around without the use of a car. They deserve world-class infrasture that supports them!
"The Boston Cyclists Union believes that bicycling is a meaningful way to shape the future of our cities." I agree, and I'm so proud to be fundraising to benefit an organization that shares so many of the values I do. As a part of this endeavor, I'll be biking 400 miles from Boston to Montreal!
All funds go towards helping Boston Cyclists Union in their mission to uplift and dignify people, fight for mobility justice, promote sustainable transit, and spread the love and joy of cycling. Your tax deductible donation goes a long way!
Even in Winter, Bikes Can Get Groceries
An e-bike, costing a grand total of $500 (including the trailer!), lets me get a full weeks worth of groceries for my wife and I. I can do this because there is a bike path that takes me straight to the supermarket. Everybody deserves easy access to their local grocery store.
Bikes Empower People
I helped load a shipping container with more than 400 bicycles and many more accessories. The destination: the island of Nevis in the Caribbean. These bicycles will help locals get around their communities faster and open up economic opportunities for the island's residents.
I Bike, I Vote
A bicycle, even on a rainy day, helps me get to the ballot box. Quick and easy access to polling locations is essential for our democracy.
Access to Nature
The Blue Hills are a short 7 mile ride from my apartment. Right now, the route to get there is a little treacherous. However, Boston has announced plans to vastly improve the bicycle infrastructure between me and the Blue Hills. This will help countless residents and families access a treasured natural landscape so close to the city.
