This May, I'm turning 30 and since that's not crazy enough I've decided to take part in an awesome trip that will help continue to enmesh me in my new Boston community! In just 4 days, myself and others will bike from Boston to Montréal while getting to traverse beautiful New England scenery and making great memories while pushing our physical capabilities! What a great way to start the decade :)

To help make it possible, each rider is responsible for fundraising $2,000 to the Boston Cyclists Union (BCU), the organization which puts on this trip! The Boston Cyclists Union is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works to improve bicycling for everyone in the Boston area. I believe in its mission, vision, and values, including people power, dignifying each person, mobility justice, joy and freedom, and sustainability.  Their work has provided me with safe routes to school and other nearby destinations where previously I was at the mercy of often oblivious, sometime aggressive motorists.

Streetscape improvements championed by the BCU make streets safer for cyclists (as you would expect), but these improvements also make driving and walking safer and less stressful. Their work is a powerful force for improving our communities! Plus, BCU has a small staff and the Bostréal trip is all volunteer-organized and led. This fundraiser supports this massive trip and ensures that the BCU can continue to work with communities and help get more people, safely, on bikes!
