Welcome to my Bos/tréal Fundraising Page!
Welcome!
As you likely know, my name is Scott. I have been living in Boston (and Cambridge) since I came for school at Northeastern University nearly 15 years ago and am a daily bike commuter through Cambridge and Boston. I have long been a supporter of the Boston Cyclist Union, the city’s primary bicycle advocacy organization, and over the past few years I have really dived into actively advocating for safe bike infrastructure throughout Greater Boston. Bos/tréal is the next step in my efforts to become a more effective advocate.
Boston Cyclist Union works tirelessly to improve biking throughout Boston. From campaigning for specific streets to be upgraded and changing local policies to providing the community with free bike repairs and discounted memberships to BlueBikes, the region’s bikeshare system, BCU is a critical organization making biking in the city safer and more welcoming for everyone.
Bos/tréal is a fundraising and community building ride supporting the Boston Cyclist Union. About 50 supporters of BCU will ride the 400 miles to Montréal together to gain inspiration from a world-class cycling city while spending the week making friends that will be able to organize together for implementing better infrastructure back home in Boston. I am hopeful that you can help support my trip by donating to the BCU!
Over the past few years, I have helped BCU table at community events, participated in demonstrations calling on the city to build safer bike networks, and led bike rides. Cambridge’s City Manager appointed me to the Cambridge Bicycle Advisory Committee, hosting community rides and giving feedback on the many street upgrade projects Cambridge is constantly implementing to make biking safe for all ages and abilities. I spend many evenings attending public meetings to give support for changes to make our streets safer and have created a Twitter account (@BostonBikeData) to highlight how many people are biking around Boston using public data.
Please consider donating whatever you are able to in order to help support this fantastic organization and the amazing work it does! If you can not donate at this time, please consider sharing my fundraising page. Thank you for your time and support!
Happy Riding!
