We have been fortunate to meet people in the Down Syndrome Community all over the country as a result of our many moves. In 2010, we began our Buddy Walk adventures in Virginia Beach, when Merrick was only 11 months old. In 2012, I had the privelage of participating in a Buddy Walk on Washington (DC), where I campaigned with other parents to make legislative changes to support individuals with Down Syndrome. We lived in Florida for a short time and once again the Down Syndrome community there welcomed us and we participated in a Buddy Walk on the ocean beach! Now we live in Washington State and again our community welcomed us and has been a valuable source of information and assistance. We have participated in the Puget Sound Buddy Walk since 2014 when we moved back to the Pacific Northwest.

Our team name has remained the same through all of our moves and various Buddy Walk locations. While the friends and family who were able to join us, in person, at each Buddy Walk changed with each location, we have been so lucky to have wonderful friends and family all along who have supported us either in person or in spirit. We love you all, thank you so much.

The Buddy Walk is one of the main sources of fundraising for the Down Syndrome Center of Puget Sound (DSC). The DSC's mission is to provide impactful programs and resources for individuals with Down syndrome and their families while evolving perceptions in the broader community. Funds raised at the Puget Sound Buddy Walk® allow them to continue to offer their many programs, events, and initiatives, and to add more to meet the needs of their members.
