About the Roundhouse Aquarium
The Roundhouse Aquarium Teaching Center (operated by Oceanographic Teaching Stations), located at the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier has been serving the community for over 40 years. Our mission is to connect visitors and students to the oceans, provide hands-on and interactive experiences with marine life and habitats of Southern California, and inspire people to have positive impacts on the environment.
Each year, thousands of students from across the Los Angeles area are brought to the Roundhouse and beach for hands-on STEM field trips. Most of these students are from low-income schools, and 25% of them have never been to the beach before this field trip. Join us by donating to provide buses to allow more of these students to experience the wonder of the ocean, learn about the environment, and experience science in a hands-on environment.
Please support one of our favorite field trip programs.
Why I support the Roundhouse Aquarium
Every year, the Roundhouse Aquarium provides free field trips and buses to Title One schools in the Los Angeles area. My students have been lucky recipients of some of those wonderful learning experiences. Students not only get to visit the ocean and feel the waves, but they get to interact and learn from ocean experts and meet real sealife at the aquarium. The field trip fosters a sense of responsiblity to help keep our environment clean and helps my students understand their connection to the world they live in. You can't teach that from a book. Please help fund this experience for other students in our city. Thanks!
