Lots of us have/had family pets and understand the incredible impact they have on all our lives. They teach our families nurture, empathy, joy, and unconditional love. Many times, our pets bond us all even more tightly.
Now, imagine a loved one with a disability being GIFTED an expertly trained dog to do these things as well as practical concerns like picking up objects, opening doors, turning off lights, etc. If you have not already watched the Netflix movie, “Inside the Mind of a Dog” I highly recommend it. The movie highlights an organization called Canine Companions whose mission is “to provide expertly trained dogs to individuals with disabilities, free of charge.” The trailer can be viewed HERE and is narrated by Rob Lowe.
To place one dog with one disabled person costs $50K.
Please join me, in honor of National Service Dog Month, to help reach my fundraising goal of $50K to Canine Companions.
