Every year since 1988 Children's Cancer Connection has been dedicated to providing a week-long residential camp for children diagnosed with cancer living or treated in the state of Iowa. We also provide an identical week of camp for siblings of children diagnosed. At Children's Cancer Connection we believe in serving the entire family, for the entire journey! No one is ever charged any amount to come to camp and we work year-round to make sure we can provide a magical experience for our campers!

Last year I had the opportunity to attend my first week of camp! I was a counselor for a group of 11 and 12-year-old girls at sibling camp and they taught me so much more than I could have imagined. I love camp because kids should be kids! So many of these kids are either fighting big battles or watching their sibling fight big battles while having to take on a new battle themselves. Siblings are often overlooked when it comes to the effects that cancer and its treatment have on a family. Siblings are often questioning whether their brother or sister will be okay, they may have to take on more adult roles while their parents are with their sibling during treatment. This week of camp is a chance for both siblings and patients to be kids. They do not have to worry about taking care of anyone else, they just get to have fun!
