Want to donate items? To feed a family of four, we need these items for each basket:
2 cans / jars of gravy
2 cans of fruit
4 cans of veggies
1 can of cranberry sauce
2 boxes of stuffing
1 box of potatoes
1 can of yams
1 box of cake or brownie mix
Items will be collectedat any of our 9 branches: Albany, Bethlehem, Glenville, Greenbush, Greene County, Guilderland, Schenectady, Southern Saratoga, Troy

Our Community Needs YOU this Thanksgiving!
People Helping People is what the Caring Community Basket Brigade is all about. I believe it is super important to share our good fortunes with our neighbors who are in need during the holidays. Unfortunately, ten to twenty percent of our Capital District neighbors live below the poverty line. The impact we can make to help our neighbors in need is huge. This campaign started in 2016 with the goal of feeding fifty families a full Thanksgiving meal. Fast forward to 2023 and this campaign has fed over 4,700 families. This year’s campaign, we have a goal to feed 1,500 families. With your help, we will help to make Thanksgiving a special day for many of our neighbors.
Thanks to generous donors who have made it possible for us to feed over 4,700 families since 2016. This initiative would never have been able to grow as it has without the support from the Capital District YMCA. The Capital District YMCA has made this campaign one of their community initiatives. I am very proud to team up with such an incredible organization in the Capital District.
The estimated cost to feed a family a complete meal is one hundred dollars. The number of families we are able to feed will depend on the number of donations we receive. We are asking for monetary donations to purchase turkeys and/or complete meals. Your Monetary donation is tax-deductible. Thank you for your time and consideration.
