What types of items can be donated?

The Child Life Department at Nemours is only able to accept items that are brand new. All toys must be in their original packaging and cannot be wrapped in giftwrap or gift bags.

How are the donated toys used and distributed to patients?

Toy donations made to the Child Life Department are utilized in a multitude of ways. Most donations received will go to patients, siblings and families who are admitted in the hospital during the holiday season. The Child Life Department also uses the donations to help restock playrooms and use as gifts that can be available for patients year-round to help celebrate birthdays, big milestones or celebrations through the year.

What items will not be accepted as a donation?

Due to infection control and for safety reasons, we are unable to accept any handmade cards, used toys, or any military/army inspired toys or items. We are also unable to accept any bicycles or motorized items such electric scooters, hoverboards, or equivalent. Any of the aforementioned items will be donated back to the community to ensure a child elsewhere can still benefit from the donation.

 When can I drop off my donation?
All donations must be scheduled ahead of time. Our donors will need to fill out this form to identify which day and time we can expect to receive their donation. Donations can be dropped off on December 11^th-13^th and Dec 16-20^th during the hours of 9am-6pm. What if I cannot drop off my donation during the dates given?
Unfortunately, due to limited availability we are unable to accept holiday donations outside of the December 11^th-13^th and December 16-20^th time frame. We appreciate your understanding! For donations outside of the holiday season, please reach out to nchflprograms@nemours.org to schedule a donation drop off. Donations can be scheduled Monday-Friday during the hours of 9am-4pm.

Can I pass out my donation to the patients?

No, due to visitation policies and infection control our donors are not allowed to pass out donations directly to patients.
