We Walk for Finn!
Finn Paul Cavanaugh was Born on November 7th, 2022 with a congenital heart condition called Tetralogy Of Fallot,a heart defect made up of four different heart problems: ventricular septal defect, overriding aorta, pulmonary stenosis and right ventricular hypertrophy. These defects affect normal blood flow through the heart resulting in a lack of oxygen. Finn underwent open heart surgury on Febuary 6th, 2023, at 3 months old where a team of surgeons at Massachusettes General Hospital completed a successful full repair. The following summer during a routine follow up it was discovered that Finn had less then 20% blood flow to his left lung due to a kink in his anatomy from the changes in the structure of his heart after surgery. He then underwent a cardiac cathertization to place a large pulmonary artery stent. It has been a long road and Finn will be followed by cardiology for the rest of his life but we are happy to report that he is thriving and his heart never holds him back! Thanks to the research and advances made in surgury Finn is a strong, brave, happy, healthy 2 year old! He is our Hero!
Every 15 minutes in the United States, a baby is born with a congenital heart defect, making CHDs the most common birth defect in our country. The Congenital Heart Walk is dedicated to making a difference. Our mission is clear - we aim to raise funds to support The Children's Heart Foundation in its quest to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of CHDs by funding groundbreaking research.
