Growing up, I had always heard stories about the legendary Polar Plunge where adventurers bravely plunged into ice cold water in the middle of winter. Well, in 2010, I, along with a few friends decided to knock a cool item off our bucket list and signed up for the Chicago Polar Plunge. Aside from raising money for the Special Olympics, we didnt know much about the event, but that was all we needed for the initial inspiration. Along the way, I was also able to convince my company to sponsor a team of our own, which in turn helped spark an interest from other corporations to do the same, all for a common great cause.
So, from something fun to do, came a lot of support from friends, family and coworkers in honoring family members and loved ones who have disabilities and enabling them to do extraordinary things. Many have shared their personal connections with me to both the Special Olympics and to world of living with, caring for and loving someone who has special needs. Thank you for welcoming me into your world and I dedicate this, my 14th consecutive plunge to each and everyone of you out there. You are the reason I keep coming back each year.
On Sunday, March 5, 2023, I will be participating in the 2023 Chicago Polar Plunge!
