Thirteen years ago almost to the day, I felt like my world stopped. I was overwhelmed with fear and uncertainty. How could this happen to me? I was a young mother, just returning to teaching, full of hopes and dreams. But there I was, facing a battle I never thought I would have to fight.
Today, I stand before you as a survivor, grateful for every moment. I’ve learned that this journey is not just about me; it’s about all of us. It’s about the countless lives affected by breast cancer—mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends. We’ve made progress, but there’s still so much work to be done which is why I became involved important cause that is close to my heart: the Israel Cancer Research Fund (ICRF). As many of you know, cancer affects countless lives and groundbreaking research is vital in the fight against this disease.
ICRF is dedicated to supporting innovative cancer research in Israel, a country renowned for its scientific advancements. Now more then ever, Israel needs our help to continue their efforts not only contribute to new treatments and therapies, but also pave the way for a better understanding of cancer and its prevention. To date, ICRF has funded over 2,800 grants totaling more than $92 million to scientists at leading Israeli institutions. In the current funding year, ICRF is supporting 83 cancer research grants, making us the largest nongovernmental funder of cancer research in Israel.
