Austin was born a healthy little boy but at just 4 weeks old, we took him to Children's for vomiting. The days after were some of the scariest moments of our lives. Austin had 2 surgeries in 2 days and the result was the removal of 2/3 of his small bowel. Austin had malrotation that led to a mid-gut volvulus. He spent approximately 1 month with most of his care in the PICU and as we got closer to home, he was in the ICC (Infant Care Center).
Since then Austin has had numerous hospitalizations for dehydration, malnutrition and most recently a 2 week stay in the PICU for pneumonia and a respiratory virus.
He is a happy, playful and strong little boy who is improving everyday thanks to his team of doctors and nurses at Children's of Minnesota - Minneapolis location. We are will forever be grateful for the care they have provided and continue to provide our little guy!
Please help us provide continued support to the PICU in honor of Austin and our family! Thank you so much in advance!
This donation was made by the SVA (Shakopee Volleyball Association). Our family was the recipient of their annual serve-a-thon. A special thank you to the families and players of the SVA!
