What is the new Children’s Minnesota Virtual Walk for Amazing?
You’re invited to walk, play, climb, dance — whatever gets your heart pumping — and raise money for Children’s Minnesota.
Even though we’re going virtual this year, Walk for Amazing remains a celebration of our extended family — our patients, their care teams, siblings, parents and everyone who believes that kids deserve amazing health care.
We’re moving from a one-day walk to a month-long campaign of healthy and fun activities. Activities can be anything from a daily walk, a family bike ride, or a round of golf. There are weekly themes and challenges, but you choose your activities each day.
How does the event work?
- After registering each person in your household, log in to the online fundraising platform to create a page and set the goal of doing one healthy activity each day until May 30. We’ll have weekly challenges to keep your family inspired.
- Reach out to your community and ask them to support your efforts with a donation. Ask them to get involved too!
- As you complete your activities, share photos and stories with your fundraising network. We'd also love to see your photos on the Virtual Walk for Amazing Group page on Facebook.
- Expect to get regular encouragement from special friends of Children’s Minnesota (and maybe a few surprise guests!).
- If you raise at least $100 by May 29th, you’ll receive a t-shirt in the mail for each participant in your household.
When is the new event happening?
Each week in May will have different challenges and activities for you and your family to participate in together. We encourage everyone to do one healthy activity each day from now through May 30. We plan to start our activities on Monday, May 4 but it’s easy for anyone to start at any time
On Saturday, May 30 we’ll celebrate together – virtually, of course.
Where is this happening?
Wherever you are. In your home, neighborhood, or wherever you can safely participate in activities.
We also have a Facebook Group that we invite you to join. That group is where you can get the latest news, challenges and maybe even interact with some special guests! We encourage sharing pictures, videos and comments about how you and your family are staying active.
You can also update your friends and family on your progress from your fundraising page. Add pictures and videos of all the fun activities you are doing and ask them to create a team and help you reach your fundraising goals.
How do I register and how much does it cost?
Registration is FREE for the Virtual Walk for Amazing. Sign up each member of your household today. Households that raise at least $100 by May 29th will receive a t-shirt in the mail.
Is there a deadline to register?
No, you can sign up each person in your household at any time! We plan to start our activities on Monday, May 4 but it’s easy for anyone to start at any time. The sooner you register, the sooner you can get started reaching out to your friends and family to join you and share their support through philanthropic donations. If you raise at least $100 by May 29th, you'll receive a t-shirt in the mail for each participant in your household. Please make sure each person in your household is registered in order to receive a t-shirt.
If I’m already registered, what will happen with my registration fee?
If you have already paid a registration fee(s), you have the choice to redirect it as a tax-deductible donation to a fund of your choice at Children’s Minnesota and have it count towards the $100 t-shirt incentive, or have it refunded.
As a major nonprofit, independent pediatric health care system in the state, we rely on events like Walk for Amazing to raise vital dollars that directly support the patients and families who come to us for care and we hope you will choose to donate your registration fee to a program or fund of your choice.

What Children’s Minnesota programs does the Virtual Walk for Amazing support?
You have the opportunity to choose which program at Children’s Minnesota is supported by your donation and fundraising dollars. It can be a program that has been important in your life, or someone you love.
During this unprecedented time of uncertainty, we also invite you to support our Urgent Needs Fund. This allows our organization the most flexibility to allocate philanthropic funds immediately to where they are needed most.
My friends and family have joined my team. How can they continue to participate?
Invite your family, friends, and others in your network to create their own Virtual Walk for Amazing page, participate in healthy activities, and celebrate with us virtually on May 30.
Do I have to track my progress?
While we encourage everyone to take part in one healthy activity every day, there are no requirements to track your participation. However, we do encourage you to share your activity on your fundraising page and social media channels to keep friends and family updated.
And don’t forget to join our Facebook Group to see what others are doing and share ideas.
How do I get an event t-shirt?
Each household who raises at least $100 by May 29th will receive t-shirts in the mail. Please make sure that each member of your household is registered as a participant by May 29th in order to receive a t-shirt.
