Joe "Tippy" Pohl, age 76, passed away on July 7, 2021 at his home from kidney failure, following a health decline that began with multiple cancer diagnoses in 2016.

Our family is asking that donations in his memory be made to the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation, an organization that was so helpful to our family and which Tippy supported following his daughter Katie Pohl Dopirak's diagnosis and death from sporadic CJD in 2018.

Like Katie, Tippy passed away one week after his last birthday (on June 30, 2021), and we take comfort in knowing that they are now reunited in Heaven.  We hope that Katie takes comfort in that too! ?

With your support in Tippy's honor, our family will continue to assist the Foundation as it helps families facing CJD and doctors and researchers searching for treatments and hopefully a cure for this horrible condition.  Since 2018, we have raised almost $100,000 for the Foundation, which has funded 5 research grants and allowed the Foundation to continue its education and support services for families impacted by CJD.
