According to the Poetry Foundation, the correspondents of Mary Shelley included Lord Byron, Maria Gisborne, Claire Clairmont, Edward John Trelawny, Leigh Hunt, Thomas Love Peacock, and Henry Crabb Robinson, amongst others. Did they offer each other advice and recommendations? Encouragment in their writing careers? Surely if this illustrious and unusual group could look to the future, they would cheer on the field of new voices in fiction and programs for writers!
