Why College Mentors?

 

 I have become recently involved with a new Club called College Mentors For KIds at Miami University. Every Tuesday from 4pm to 6pm elementary school kids from the area get bussed into Miami University. Each child is paired with a mentor. For two hours each week the buddy and mentor are doing fun yet educational actvites. All of the activities are college, community, or carreer oriented. This main purpose of this club is to provide an inspirinring. motiviating and positive enviroment for chlildren. My little buddy's name is Stephen. He is in second grade, and he likes math and running around outside. I have really enjoyed getting to know him. Getting to spend two hours a week with a child has really been helpful to me. Its a time that I know I have blocked out every week to do something that is not school related, and I really look forward to that!

Each menotor has a fundraising requiremnt, due to the fact that the club is proveded by Mimai University to the children for free. It would be greatly appreciated it you would please consider donating to my acoount so that I can contuniue to be a mentor in this amazing organization
