Hello, my name is Guimel Magallanes.
I'm currently a Senior at North Carolina State University. I joined College Mentors for Kids 2 years ago and my experience has been amazing. All the little buddies are full of energy and I have a lot of energy as well so that mixes well. My past Little Buddies have connected with me through similar interests, including video games and music genre.

Growing up, my younger cousins and brothers have always spent time together and over the years, our bonds have become stronger. With hardworking parents, I helped out by taking care of them. Now that I'm older, I take them out to see movies, to the park, or any place that isn't home so our parents can get breaks. Sadly, I'm far from home and don't see them often. Luckily, College Mentors for Kids provides college student mentors to serve as positive role models for these kids and open their eyes to new opportunities, helping them to create new visions for their futures. College Mentors for Kids provides me an outlet to destress, as well as hoping to make an impact in a Little Buddys life. 

I enjoy being a mentor because I get to spend time with my little buddy each week and participate in fun activities together with other mentors and buddies. I also enjoy learning with my buddy about careers, culture and diversity, and community service. It's important to me to give back to the community, and I'm learning important leadership skills in the meantime.
