College Mentors for Kids gives college students the opportunity to serve as positive role models for kids in the Columbus area. Through educational and fun activities on Ohio State’s campus, our goal is to provide new opportunities and help our little buddies create new visions of their futures.

This is my third year in College Mentors. The past two years in the program, I was a mentor to a fifth grader and a fourth grader. This year, I decided I wanted to further my involvement in this amazing program and take on the role of General Manager. As a GM, I am in charge of the 5th grade buddy family, which includes 8 little buddies and their mentors.

Through this position, I lead our buddy family from station to station and keep activity running smoothly. I support our mentors by giving advice, answering questions, and offering a helping hand if issues do arise. I encourage positive behavior among our little buddies and ensure everyone is having a fun time! Within these past few weeks, I have had the opportunity to connect and build relationships with the 16 little buddies and mentors in the 5th grade, which is by far my favorite part about being a GM! 

It is crazy that this is my last year within this program. College Mentors for Kids has been one of the highlights of my weeks here at OSU throughout the years. This year has already been a blast! My 5th grade little buddies are the most funny, crazy, outgoing kids I know, who challenge me each and every week to grow as a leader, a listener, and a role model.
