Coast to the cure NF Bike Ride 2023 “This is having a child with an incurable medical condition. Not a medical condition that entails just one type of illness or symptom, but a terrifying genetic disorder that can cause countless symptoms, illnesses, pain, and disabilities, and there's no way to know when/if they will show up or how severe.” - Jessica Jemente (Mom of 7.5 year old daughter with NF) As I am sure most of you know by now, our little star, Kenzley, the light of our life, was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis in April of 2018. Rather than feeling hopeless and upset about this challenge, we decided to channel our energy to help research, and to help others better understand the rare disorder. Although there is still no cure, we truly believe that we are getting closer, and with fundraising, and more future research, we WILL see a cure. Neurofibromatosis, also known as NF, is a genetic disorder of the nervous system that causes tumors to form on the nerves anywhere in or on the body at any time. NF can cause other symptoms such as cafe-au-lait spots (birthmarks), optic gliomas, blindness, lische nodules on the eye, seizures, pain, dysplasia of bones, and developmental/learning delays. The condition varies from person to person. On September 9, 2023 folks will be biking along the beautiful hills of Gloucester and surrounding towns to spread awareness at the Coast to the Cure NF Bike Ride. This will be Bryan’s 4th year riding, however it will be a little different. Unfortunately, this year our family will be out of state for the ride, but that is not stopping Bryan from fundraising, riding, and spreading awareness. This year, on September 2, 2023 Bryan will be putting on his NF jersey, representing team Kenzley’s Krew, and riding 66 miles along the Cape Cod Rail Trail. He is used to completing the ride alongside our NF family, therefore if anyone is local and wants to join him, let us know! He would love that! Team Kenzley’s Krew has a fundraising goal of $2000.00!
