Help me raise money for a cause that gives to those who need it most... College Mentors for Kids! College Mentors for Kids allows at-risk youth to be mentored on a college campus every week by a college mentor. At Illinois State University, 200+ Little Buddies from District 87 (woooot woooot- shout out) attend campus each week. Students learn about higher education, culture and diversity, saving money and various careers that they can have in their future by attending a college. 

Why I love College Mentors:

Joining College Mentors for Kids my freshman year was the best decision I made. I grew from a mentor to a GM to the Chapter President over my 4 years in the program. College Mentors taught me the beauty in diversity, helping those in our community and it helped me reach for my dreams. It taught me that I was capable of leading a group of 300 people while balancing a full course load of classes. My experiences in College Mentors for Kids cannot be put into words and knowing that this program continues to grow and continues to impact thousands of college students and elementary students around the nation every week inspires me. 

After college, I had the privilege of teaching in the community where former Little Buddies went to junior high school. The friendships and mentor-mentee relationships I had with these Little Buddies continued to grow through their years at the junior high school. I was lucky to see the seeds that were planted at weekly activities continue to grow on a daily basis. 

All students deserve a college mentor who believes in them and encourages them to have a brighter future. All college students also deserve an opportunity to explore their neighboring communities and to give back to others. Thank you, College Mentors for Kids, for continuing to inspire me and thousands of people every week. Here's to a bright future for all Little Buddies.
