This is my fourth year in College Mentors for Kids at NC State. This school is my home, and I have found my family through this organization. For two years, I led my small group, where I witnessed my kids and their mentors grow together. I stepped into the role of President, and I am now entering my Senior year as President for the second term. Not only have I grown as a leader and an individual in such a crucial chapter of my life, but I have also developed relationships with my exec team, mentors, parents, school partners, and Little Buddies. 

These kids are a part of my purpose at NC State. Seeing them each week with their illuminated smiles, quirky jokes, and genuine questions sparks the creativity and joy in my heart. They encourage me to be the best version of myself - a leader, a listener, someone they can depend on and trust. 

Our kids’ families can depend on our team to provide them with a free after-school program each week. We pair each child with a college student mentor and provide them with snacks, activity supplies, and transportation to the NC State campus. Throughout the year, a buddy pair will build a connection, become a foundational part of each other’s lives, and have two hours of fun and learning each week. 

To make this program free of cost, we rely on the friends and family of our team for support. Your effort and support go directly back into the work our students at NC State do. I look at the ways those whom I sent this to have supported me. You have loved me, advised me, and supported me through everything. You have encouraged me to find a purpose that I can return these feelings to.
