Learn about me and CMFK!!

Hi! My name is Lexi Langevin! I am a sophomore at NC State University majoring in Fashion and Textile Management. I recently joined a club that I am super excited about! Since late September, I have been paired with (and meet weekly with) a local elementary school student. All students in the program were selected or recommended because it was determined that they could benefit from having a college mentor and/or being a part of this program. I am a positive role model and ensure that my little buddy is safe! This is critical because these weekly sessions are held at my university! I am so excited to be a mentor and love seeing my little buddy each week! Part of the membership to this club requires fundraising throughout the year. Donations help to fund our chapter of College Mentors for Kids to make sure children have transportation, snacks, and a variety of other supplies. Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns! (Avlangev@ncsu.edu) Thank you for your help! Anything and everything is appreciated and will be utilized through a wonderful organization! Thanks again :) ~Lexi

Why College Mentors?

Here is the generic College Mentors blurb! Please email me @ Avlangev@ncsu.edu if you have questions about my personal experience, how your donations will be used, or anything else! Thank you!

Did you know that mentoring transforms lives? Research shows that kids with mentors view themselves and their futures more positively than those without mentors. Not only do they view themselves in a more confident light, but they also achieve more positive outcomes in school, the workplace, and their communities. We all know that growing up is challenging, but, with a mentor, it’s a little easier. And that’s exactly why I’ve chosen to be volunteer with College Mentors.

College Mentors for Kids connects kids to college students through weekly on-campus activities that inspire growth, confidence, and brighter futures.

I enjoy volunteering because I get to spend time with my little buddy each week and participate in fun activities together with other mentors and buddies. I also enjoy learning alongside my buddy about careers, culture and diversity, and community service. Not only do we like exploring our world together, but my little buddy helps me grow as a person too. This program helps me to give back to my community, and I'm learning important leadership skills in the meantime.

I can't do all of this without your help, though. Please consider making a gift to help me meet my fundraising goal! Your contribution will allow us to continue this program on our campus so that we can spread the powering of mentoring.
